_ [TV]NHKスペシャル「沸騰都市『東京』」
番組を見ていて、ふと思い出した言葉
「東京は日本一の田舎だ」
某有名フリーライターの言葉
皇居や東京タワーはとても気分のいいところだ。日本そのものもよく見える。彼ら (引用者注: 台湾からの観光客) の選択をステレオタイプだなどと笑って説得力のある東京人などいやしない

これらを書いたのは、どちらも地方出身者だ
番組とは直接関係ないけど、日本のオリンピック開催候補地に、東京が福岡を破って当選したとき
「東京はどうせ勝つことが決まってるんだから、たまには勝ちを地方に譲ってやれよ」
と思ったわたしは、東京及び近郊在住経験のある田舎者だ
結局のところ、田舎者が日本一多く住んでいるのが東京だし、東京は田舎がないと成り立たない都市なんだと思う
まあ、大都市はどこでもそうだろうけど
モンスターと化して、増殖していく東京はこの先どうなるのだろう。巨大化の果てに恒星がたどるように、自重に耐えられなくなってつぶれてしまうのだろうか
